Our approach
The laser only affects hairs in the growth phase, and at any moment fewer than a third are in it. One visit is therefore never enough — a series of 6–10 sessions at 4–8 week intervals is needed. We say this before the first session, not after the third.
Who it is for
For dark hair on the upper lip with a light or medium complexion.
How it works
Phototype assessment, eye protection, laser passes with cooling, a soothing gel, SPF.
How to prepare
- No sun exposure for 4 weeks before, self-tanner included.
- Shave the area the day before; no waxing or plucking for 4 weeks.
- Come with the area free of lotion, deodorant and makeup.
Aftercare
- No sauna, pool, sunbed or hot baths for 48 hours.
- SPF 50 on the treated area throughout the series.
- Hairs “shed” over 1–3 weeks — that is expulsion, not regrowth.
Contraindications
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Active inflammation, skin infection, active cold sores
- Isotretinoin use, and 6–12 months after finishing the therapy
- Autoimmune conditions in a flare
- Cancer during treatment
- Tendency to keloid scarring
- Fresh tan
- Fresh tan — sun, sunbed or self-tanner (at least 4 weeks’ break)
- Photosensitising medication
- Vitiligo or psoriasis in the treated area
- Pigmented moles in the field — we work around them and recommend a dermatology check
